Planning

Planning for a company-wide solution like Google Apps is the most important part of the deployment effort. Planning is included in each of our Google Apps deployment plans. We use a proven methodology to plan for 3-phase deployment by identifying the following

  • Choose the right resources at the customer’s organization to assist with the technical deployment

  • Plan the communication, Training, and ongoing support

  • Plan for mail delivery during transitional phases and end state of deployment

  • Plan for data migration for mail, contact, calendar, and files

  • Plan your mobile scenarios

  • Identify critical use cases and scenarios for successful deployment

  • Plan administrator and end-user training and change management

Migration

Every deployment of Google Apps is tailored to the customer’s needs and goals. There are two main parts of migration. Firstly, we have to get the users provisioned in Google Apps. Secondly, we have take care of the end user data.

These include email, contacts, calendar appointments,s and files in the legacy system. Some customers choose to leave their data in their legacy system and allow their users to access it as necessary. Others leverage archiving systems for long-term archives.

Others opt to migrate data to their new Google Apps system. For customers who decide to migrate data, we have the ability to migrate all or a date range of data from most email systems via an automated manner. We can also provide tools and instructions for an end-user population to move their own data. The level of data migration will depend on the Google Apps deployment plan purchased.

  • Identify change impact and create approach to address them

  • Create policy for standardize usage of certain apps

  • Identify helpdesk approach and resources

  • Identify early adopters and champions to help with the change
